Revitalizing the Global Alliances for Sustainable Development: Analyzing the Viability of Sustainable Development Goal 17—A Multi-Actor Governance Approach

The seventeenth Sustainable Development Goal of the United Nations, Partnerships for Goals, aims to strengthen means implementation and revitalize global partnership sustainable development. successful implantation UN’s will aid execution achievement other sixteen goals. This article explores importance viability 17, using a case study based in Valencia, Spain. presents an illustrative stakeholder situation, where we see that there are conflicting interests among conservationists, fishermen, municipality representatives, others. Data collection was done desk-based research semi-structured interviews. interview process performed between October 2018 2019. In total, 21 different stakeholders were interviewed. For data analyses, register, Power–Interest Matrices, map used, and, complement latter, narratives developed. analyses showed most project supported project, while really only one stakeholder, fishermen themselves, who reticent about participating. However, it shown over time that, by developing common vision with them, came on board collaborated scientists. Stakeholder engagement especially useful application Goals at level.
